How to Bring Your Best Seasonal Workers Back Next Year

Every busy season, a few temporary workers stand out. They show up on time, learn fast and make the people around them better.

When the season ends, most employers simply let them go. Next year, they start over with people who have never seen the building. There’s a better way.

Why Returning Workers Matter

• They already know your site, your safety rules and your systems.

• They need less training, so they’re productive sooner.

• They know your supervisors, and your supervisors know what to expect from them.

• They help train the new people around them.

Make a Short List Before the Season Ends

Don’t wait until next year to remember who was great. Before the season wraps up, ask your supervisors to name the workers they would want back and why.

Share that list with your staffing partner so they know who to call first when you need people again.

End the Season Well

How a season ends is what people remember. Thank workers personally. Give them a clear end date so nobody is surprised. Let your best people know you’d like them back.

A simple “we hope to see you next year” goes a long way.

Stay in Touch

Good workers don’t sit still. If they hear nothing from you for months, they’ll find something else. Work with your staffing partner to keep in touch and offer them other assignments in between busy seasons when possible.

Give Them a Reason to Come Back

• A safe, organized place to work.

• Supervisors who treat people with respect.

• Clear expectations and fair schedules.

• A chance at a permanent role for the people who earn it.
