What to Include in a Staffing Job Order

When you call a staffing agency, the details you share shape who shows up. A vague request gets a best guess. A clear one gets workers who fit the job.

Here is what to include so your staffing partner can fill the order right the first time.

The Job Itself

• Job title and a plain description of the daily tasks.

• How physical the work is: lifting, standing all shift, climbing or working outdoors.

• Equipment workers will use, like forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners or hand tools.

• Any required certifications or licenses, such as forklift certification or a valid driver’s license.

Schedule and Location

• Start date and how long you expect the assignment to last.

• Shift start and end times, including weekends or overtime if needed.

• The exact address and where workers should check in.

• Parking instructions and any site entry rules.

Headcount and Pay

• How many workers you need, and whether that number may change.

• The pay rate you agreed on with your staffing partner.

• Whether the role could turn into a permanent hire.

Safety and Dress Code

• Required safety gear such as steel-toe boots, gloves, high-visibility vests or safety glasses, and who provides it.

• Dress code and anything not allowed on site.

• Site safety rules workers need to know before their first shift.

Who Workers Report To

Give the name and phone number of the on-site supervisor. Workers who know exactly who to look for on day one get started faster and make fewer mistakes.

What Makes a Good Fit

Tell your staffing partner what success looks like. Is speed most important? Accuracy? Working with customers? Experience with a certain kind of product?

The more your staffing partner understands about your operation, the better the match.

Give Feedback After the First Shift

If a worker is a great fit, say so. If something is off, say that too. Quick feedback lets your staffing partner adjust before small problems become big ones.
